Obituary For Kenneth "James" Shirley
Kenneth "James" Shirley, 56, of Independence, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 20, 2026. Born and raised in Northern Kentucky, James was the beloved son of the late Paul Shirley, Jr. and Susan {Smithson} Shirley.
James had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. He also loved racing, bowling, and could often be found tinkering with anything that needed fixing or simply sparked his curiosity. He was happiest when he was keeping busy, working with his hands, and spending time with the people who meant the most to him.
He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his willingness to lend a hand, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Shirley, Jr. and Susan Shirley.
He will be deeply missed by his son, Tyler (Jessica) Shirley; stepdaughter, Shannon Baker; sister, Anna Moos; uncle, John Shirley; and other family and friends who will cherish James’ memory.
No formal services will be held at this time.
