Obituary For Kent Alan Jackson
Kent Jackson, of Independence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on January 31, 1955, Kent lived a life defined by faith, service, and an unwavering love for his family.
Born and raised in Kirbyton, Kentucky, Kent earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Murray State University. He dedicated his professional life to education, serving as a teacher at Walton-Verona High School, where he invested in the lives of his students for many years before retiring.
Kent was a devoted member of Florence Christian Church, where his faith was evident in the way he lived his life. He had a compassionate heart and cared deeply for those who had experienced difficult circumstances or troubled pasts, always believing in the power of grace, encouragement, and second chances.
Outside of teaching, Kent found joy in landscaping and gardening, taking pride in creating beautiful outdoor spaces. He treasured time spent with family and friends, but nothing brought him greater happiness than being Grandad to his four grandchildren. He cherished every opportunity to watch them grow, celebrate their accomplishments, and simply spend time together.
Kent is survived by his mother, Florence Jackson of Kirbyton, Kentucky; his son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Brennan Jackson of Union, Kentucky; and his beloved grandchildren, Adley (14), Ellery (12), Dempsey (9), and Crosby (8). He is also survived his brother, Kerry (Debbie) Jackson of Kirbyton, Kentucky; his brother-in-law Les Huntley of Kirbyton, Kentucky and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Jackson; his brother, David Jackson; his sister-in-law, Vicki Jackson; and his sister, Donna Huntley.
A small graveside service will be held at Kirbyton Cemetery on August 15th, 2026 at 2pm CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Florence Christian Church (300 Main St, Florence, KY 41042).
Kent will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast faith, generous heart, and genuine kindness. Whether through his years in the classroom, his service to others, or the love he showed his family and friends, he left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His memory will continue to live on in the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed.
