Obituary For Larry Henry Bertram
Larry Bertram, age 87, of California, Kentucky, passed away on September 11, 2025. He was the beloved son of Elmer and Virginia Bertram.
Larry attended St. Joseph Cold Spring as a child and graduated from Bishop Brossart High School in 1956. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Doris and lived a life full of devotion and adventure together. He enjoyed a long and successful career at Procter & Gamble, working as a computer programmer and in product development.
Together, Larry and Doris proudly raised three sons, creating countless cherished memories. He never missed a cross-country race, track meet, or basketball game. The family gathered often at Lake Cumberland, and every fall, the boys reunited for a pheasant hunting trip in Iowa. His devotion only deepened with the arrival of grandchildren.
Larry “loved deep” within his community, and Catholic education held a special place in his heart. He formed lasting friendships through his volunteer work—running bingo nights, assisting Doris in the school cafeteria, and helping at parish picnics. In recognition of his service, he was inducted into the Bishop Brossart High School Hall of Fame with the Thomas Seither Community Service Award in 2018.
Anyone who knew Larry knew of his unwavering love for the Kentucky Wildcats. He traveled countless miles to cheer them on—through blizzards and hurricanes, nothing kept him away. He lived for game nights at Rupp Arena.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Virginia Bertram; his wife, Doris Bertram; his brothers, Bill (Louella) Bertram, Albert Bertram, and Tommy Bertram; and his brother-in-law, Doug Jordan.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Greg (Monica) Bertram, Tim (Diane) Bertram, and Mark (Courtney) Bertram; his brothers, Paul (Connie) Bertram, Joe (Sandy) Bertram, Mike (Lynn) Bertram and Elmer (Vicki) Bertram; his sisters, Kathy (Sonny) Marcus, Ginny Jordan, Grace (Lawrence) Robel, and Mary Bertram and sister-in-law Patty Bertram; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Twelve Mile, Kentucky, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. Larry will be laid to rest in the church columbarium. Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul “Tuesday Crew” 2162 California Cross Rd, California, KY 41007 or Bishop Brossart High School 4 Grove Street, Alexandria, KY 41001.
