Obituary For Larry Richard Ellison

Larry Richard Ellison, 83, passed away on Monday, December 1st, 2025.
Larry was born on May 22nd, 1942, in Covington, Kentucky to Ovie and Emma (Simpson) Ellison. He graduated from Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, Kentucky in 1960 going on to complete his Bachelor of Science in Economics at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond in 1964.
Just out of College, Larry served in the United States Army as an Army Aviator and was retired with a Purple Heart in 1967 as a result of a combat wound in Vietnam. During this time, Larry married Natalie Germann in 1965 residing in Florence, Kentucky. The highlight of their marriage was the birth of their two sons, Rodney and Donnie.
Larry started his career at Cincinnati Gas and Electric, subsequently leading technical teams at American Express in both Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Scottsdale, Arizona. He concluded his professional career as a Senior Consultant at IBM. In Scottsdale, he married Alice Flynn in 1993. In 2000, they moved to Daytona Beach to the Spruce Creek Fly-In community where Larry continued his love of aviation as a Certified Flight Instructor. In 2017, they returned to Scottsdale permanently where he enjoyed serving the community as a AARP Tax-Aide Tax consultant.
Larry and Alice fulfilled their love of travel over the entirety of their marriage, enjoying trips and cruises all over the world, the best being those that included their family.
Larry leaves behind his wife, Alice; son, Rodney (Nathalie) Ellison, Daytona Beach, FL; son, Donnie Ellison, Union, Kentucky; stepdaughters, Alison (Jason) Flynn, Burbank, California; Stephanie Flynn, Denver, Colorado; stepson, Danny Flynn, Scottsdale, Arizona; Grandchildren; Jason (Ashley) Warndorf, Florence, Kentucky; Kristin and Emma Ellison, Daytona Beach, Florida, Zoe and Ivy Flynn, Burbank, California; Decker Flynn Hastings, Denver Colorado. Great-Grandson Cole Warndorf. He also leaves behind his brother Jim (Barbara) Ellison, Independence, Kentucky, and sister Joane Cooke, Florence, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. Larry is pre-deceased by his brother Emery Ellison and sister Juanita Stephens.
He will be fondly remembered for his excellence at planning travel, his sense of humor, and his patience, love, and generosity for his family.
