Obituaries

Laura Toler Polson, 84, formerly of LaFollette, Tennessee, and most recently of Owenton, Kentucky, passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 16, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1941, to her parents, Kenneth and Edna (Walden) Baird. She worked for many years at Kmart. Laura loved to sew, attend church, collect dolls, especially Barbie dolls. She also loved to visit Bill Waldens where she had her own special seat. Laura cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Chester Toler and Sherwood Polson; and her siblings, Francis Baird, Polly Lettner, Rene Carroll, Sherry Baird, James “Jimmy” Baird, Kenneth Baird Jr., Johnny Baird, children; Lorrie Jane Toler and Tina Davis, and grandsons; Shaun Anthony Wilhoite and Brandon Ray Buckler.

She is survived by her children, Connie (James) Wilhoite, Tammy Buckler (Raymond Paul), and Chester B. Toler Jr. (Heather); her siblings, Sus Sisson, Ann “Bit” Nelson, Jewell (Steve) Hanson, and Gary (Sissy) Baird; along with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
