Lawrence Avery Whitis, affectionately known as “Big Lar,” “Big Dog,” and “Pop,” will be deeply missed.

He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and his remarkable ability to fix just about anything.

Holidays and vacations with his children and grandchildren were among his greatest joys, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

A devoted husband of 54 years, he made dreams come true for his loving wife and lived a life defined by strength, kindness, and dedication.

His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply.

He leaves behind his wife, Kathy; three children, Jennifer, Ian, and Kaitlyn; son-in-law, Ryan; daughter-in-law, Jessica; and five grandchildren, Adelaide, Amelia, Charlie, Greyson and Savannah.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow will be located at the Sterling Center.
