Lawrence “Larry” Erwin McKenney, age 79, of Villa Hills, KY, passed away on December 6, 2025. Born on July 19, 1946, in Covington, KY, Larry was the beloved son of Everett and Anna Margaret Wolfe McKenney. A dedicated educator, Larry retired after a fulfilling career as a teacher and contributed selflessly as an Elder at Erlanger Christian Church in Erlanger, KY. Larry's passion for quilting was evident in his impressive work, which earned him the prestigious Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society Lifetime Achievement Award, alongside his membership in the Stringtown Quilter's Guild. Beyond quilting, he cherished traveling and creating artwork, enriching his life with diverse experiences. He is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, William Everett and Timothy Charles McKenney. Larry’s legacy continues through his siblings: Charlotte (Dan) McCafferty, Marcia (Jim) Weber, Darlene (the late Jerry) Bush, Sandy (the late Mike) Carter, Linda (Philip) Stephens, Joyce (Joe) Durham, Debbie (David) McElfresh, and Mike McKenney (Becky). He is also deeply mourned by 9 nieces, 15 nephews, 17 great-nieces, 20 great-nephews, as well as 4 great-great-nieces and 2 great-great-nephews. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM, followed by a heartfelt funeral service at 1 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, located at 7500 US 42, Florence, KY 41042. Following the service, Larry will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.
