Obituary For Linda Wilson Campbell

Linda Wilson Campbell, 80, of Fort Myers, FL died (born Covington, KY) died on Wednesday December 10, 2025, in Fort Myers, Fl. She is survived by her son, Timothy Menkhaus, of Cincinnati, OH, her daughter, Courtney “CJ” Campbell of Fort Myers, FL, and and grandson, Louis Menkhaus, and preceded in death by her eldest son John Menkhaus Jr.

She is also the loving sister of Patricia Petzinger (Steve), and preceded in death by her brother James “Jimmy” Wilson, mother Jacqueline Wilson, fathers Edgar “Bud” Wilson and Philip Tandy. Also survived by niece Eliza Petzinger, and nephew Wesley Petzinger(Jessica), and 4 grand nieces and 1 grand nephew.

During her mother’s long cancer journey, Linda decided to become a nurse, to make sure that those in her care and their families would feel informed with plain-spoken language that anyone could understand.

She drove a long distance each day, worked full-time, had two teenage sons and a baby girl to get her degree and become a Registered Nurse. She worked in several hospitals in Cincinnati, but she was proudest of her time at the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at the University of Cincinnati. Then, she went back to school to finish her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Occupational Health. This led to jobs at Ruiz Foods in Dinuba, CA and later to Kaiser Permanente in Fresno, Oakland, and Milpitas, St. Louise Hospital, and El Camino Hospital. During those years, she became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and a Board-Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist.

She then moved to Florida and became very active in the Lee County Democratic party. She hosted canvassers in her home, was a treasurer, and a generous contributor to her county party. For the last several years, she went back into patient care with HCA Fawcett Company Care in Port Charlotte, FL.

She was a lifelong Kentucky basketball fan, a Kentucky Colonel, a dedicated Mom, a generous friend, a kind helper, and a constant reader. She was a model for resilience, education, and dedication to the mission of her work. And her love for her children was soul deep.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service Tuesday, December 23rd, from 2-4 PM at 12501 Cross Creek Blvd; Ft. Myers, Florida, 33912, and a local Celebration of Life Service Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 2-6 PM at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be directed to Cincinnati School of Nursing (giveto.uc.edu) or Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (ocrahope.org).
