Obituary For Louise Scanlon

Louise Scanlon, 92, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on March 16, 2026.

Born on April 18, 1933, in Bellbrook, Ohio, Louise was the cherished daughter of Hank and Maude (née Mendenhall) Ebeling. She met the love of her life, Robert Scanlon, and together they shared 59 and a half beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Their life together was one of deep love, devotion, and unwavering partnership. They were also blessed to celebrate their 60th anniversary year with a special blessing from the Bishop at the Wedding Anniversary Vespers Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, shortly before Robert’s passing.

Louise was the heart and foundation of her family. As a mother of eight, she poured her life into raising her children with love, strength, and grace. She later moved her family to Kentucky, where she continued to build a life centered around family, faith, and community. She was truly the best mom—selfless, nurturing, and endlessly supportive.

A woman of elegance and poise, Louise was known for her beauty, both inside and out. She carried herself with class and warmth, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was deeply involved in her professional and community life, contributing her talents and leadership to Scanlon Furniture, Women’s Leadership of Northern Kentucky, Scanlon Marketing, and The Real Estate Book. She also expressed her creativity as a makeup artist, owning her own company and working for many years at Dillard’s until her retirement, helping others feel beautiful.

Above all, Louise was kind, loving, and deeply devoted to her family. She treasured her large and growing family and found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith as a devoted Catholic guided her life and gave her strength, comfort, and purpose.

She is survived by her loving children: Kevin (Nancy) Scanlon, Colleen Scanlon-Maynard, Dennis (Sue) Scanlon, Kathleen (Dale) Spada, and Darron (Debbie) Scanlon; along with 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren who she cherished greatly. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Valerie Scanlon, wife of the late Terrance Scanlon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert Scanlon; her sons, Terrance Scanlon, Keith Scanlon, and Timothy Scanlon; and her son-in-law, Mark Maynard.

A visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Burlington on Monday, March 23, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest with her husband at St. John’s Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Kentucky Chapter of the ALS Association, a cause that was very close to Louise’s heart. Online Donations can be made here.
