Obituaries

Luke Joseph Summe, age 41, of Covington, Kentucky, passed away on August 4, 2026. He was the much loved son of Peter J. and Kathleen D. Summe.

Luke was a 2003 graduate of Covington Catholic High School. He continued his studies at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. He came back to Kentucky to continue his studies at NKU.

Ever the athlete, Luke was always up for a game of basketball or soccer at Pioneer Park. His most enjoyable hobby was bird watching from his porch with his binoculars and a bird book at his side. He was most proud of his porch plants, being the envy of the neighborhood, for his beautiful flowers of which he took great care.

The Fourth of July was his holiday! Everyone looked forward to his and his dad’s giant display of fireworks.

Finally, and foremost, Luke was a gentle and kind soul. He will be so missed by his family, especially his mother, of whom he took such good care.

Luke was predeceased by his father, Peter Joseph Summe, with whom he had such a close bond. Also, his grandparents, Tom and Jeanne Dressman and Joe and Kit Summe.

Left to mourn his passing are his mother Kathleen Dressman Summe, his brother Nicholas (Ana) Summe, his sister Rachel (Jonathon) Ehlen and much loved nieces Vera and Vivian, his aunts and uncles Debbie (Jim) Collett and Tom (Darla) Dressman, his cousins Danny Collett, Michael Collett and Matthew (Shanna) Collett and Curtis Dressman. He is also survived by Tony (Maca) Mattone and Sophie Mattone.
