Obituary For Marcia Derks
Our beloved Mom and Grambo, Marcia “Bo” Fieger Derks, was born into eternal life on October 27, 2026. She was 88 years old.
Born in Covington, Kentucky on September 17, 1938 to Charlie and Marcella (Feldkamp) Fieger, Bo was baptized in Christ at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Bo grew up in Covington and later Crescent Springs, Kentucky along with her twelve brothers and sisters. Bo had a wonderful childhood full of laughter and fun, and as she grew older, one of her favorite pastimes was to tell her children and grandchildren all of the wild stories from her growing-up years. Bo graduated from St. Henry High School in 1956 and went on to work for the Kenton County Judge Executive for twenty-five years. In 1961, she married her loving and wonderful husband, Ron, and they raised four children together.
Bo was the most joyful, effervescent, wonderfully funny, witty, sweet, and adorable person. Bo loved her family deeply and brought them along with her on her many adventures and life’s joys—taking them with her as she traveled the world, dancing and singing with them at family get-togethers, teaching them to play cards, telling them about the newest book she read or movie she saw, sharing the best stories, and showing them how to live the most beautiful and full life. But above all the wonderful things she did and people she loved, Bo was a faithful woman and she loved Jesus with her whole heart.
Bo is preceded in death by wonderful husband John “Ron” Ronald Derks Sr., her dear daughter-in-law Diane Derks, and her brothers Chuck Fieger and Chris Fieger.
She is the precious mother of John Derks, Julie (Dan) Durstock, Kathy (Bobby) Vickers, and Laurie (Lance) Nelson. She is also adored by her twelve grandchildren Jake (Megan) Nienaber, Olivia (Kyle) Barth, Caroline (Jeston) Biggs, Jenna (Tanner) Forrest, Erin Durstock, Audrey Nienaber, Mia (Stephen) Cordle, Lauren (John) Bessler, Bo Derks, Will Derks, Nina (Caleb) Sergent, and Annika Derks; and by her nine great-grandchildren, Nora Barth, Nora Kate Forrest, Teddy Nienaber, Vannie Biggs, Finley Barth, Emma Forrest, Milly Nienaber, Julian Biggs, and Baby Bessler. She and Ron created the best family in the world.
Bo is also survived by her sisters Claire (Bob) Moriconi, Mary Jo DeVillez, Cathy Skyrm, Lynn McPhillips, and Beth (Jack) Heist; brothers, Steve (Marianne) Fieger, Ken (Peggy) Fieger, Jerry Fieger, Dick Fieger, and Mark (Carma) Fieger; and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1839 Euclid Avenue, Covington, KY 41014, on October 31, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will directly follow at 11:30. After mass, Bo’s family and friends are invited to gather at St. John’s Cemetery, 1 St. John’s Road, Fort Mitchell, KY 41011, where Bo will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, Bo’s family requests that you instead give in her name to St. Augustine Catholic School in Covington, Kentucky or The Center for Respite Care in Cincinnati, Ohio.
