Obituary For Marcia Lynn Dwinell Hosea

Marcia Lynn Dwinell Hosea, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2026, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving to others.

Born in Franklin, Ohio, on September 27, 1945, Marcia was the eldest daughter of Leah Baker Dwinell and John Dwinell. She grew up with a strong sense of family and responsibility that stayed with her throughout her life.

She was a loving sister to Kathy (Ed) Kopp, Colleen Macdonald (Woody German), and Nancy (Ira) Greenlee, and a cherished sister-in-law to Cindy and Pat Roth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Ginny and Henry Hosea and Roger Francis. Family meant everything to Marcia, and she held close the many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who blessed her life.

Marcia graduated from Seneca High School, Class of 1963, and went on to attend the University of Kentucky—where she met the love of her life, David Hosea. The yin to David’s yang, they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage together. Together, they built a life rooted in love and laughter, established and grew multiple businesses, and worked tirelessly to strengthen and better the community around them.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Todd (Christie) Hosea, Megan (Mick) Abner, and Natalie (Kevin) Orme, and a proud grandmother—known lovingly as “Mimi”—to Maleah Abner, Makenna Abner, Mikey Abner, Taylor Hosea, Dawson Hosea, Madison Hosea, Henry Hosea, Addison Orme, Emmerson Orme, and Maren Orme. Mimi had a gift for creating wonder. She made every holiday feel magical, every tea party unforgettable, and delighted in convincing her grandchildren that her magical powers were very real. Through these moments of imagination and joy, she created memories that will live on in their hearts forever.

Over the years, Marcia held numerous professions. She worked as a stable girl at Keeneland, as a receptionist at General Electric, led Human Resources at Hosea Project Movers, worked as an international antiques dealer, and coordinated weddings for The Inn at Oneonta. In addition, she gave generously of her time to many Northern Kentucky charities and was especially proud to help establish the Henry Hosea House. She also served on the Board of Regents at Northern Kentucky University.

An active and engaged member of the Fort Thomas community and Christ Church UCC, Marcia was always ready to lend a hand—or host an event. She was an exceptional hostess who loved bringing people together, whether for fundraisers, celebrations, or simply a gathering filled with good food, games, and conversation.

Marcia embraced life fully and had many talents. She was an avid golfer, making memories with friends at both Highland and Ryland Lakes Country Clubs. She was also an adventurous world traveler, a pianist, a lifelong lover of horses, and a devoted caretaker to her many beloved pets. Above all, she was a nurturer—of her family, her friends, and anyone in her circle.

Of all her accomplishments, Marcia was most proud of her family. Her love, generosity, quiet grace and patience will live on through them and through the countless lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, at Christ Church United Church of Christ in Ft. Thomas, KY from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm. Marcia will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marcia’s honor to the Henry Hosea House, the Fort Thomas Education Foundation, Christ Church UCC, and St. Jude’s.
