Margaret C. Owens (née Stewart), 80, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 27, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Margaret was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Stewart (née Hill). She graduated from Deer Park High School and later earned her teaching degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Margaret dedicated more than 30 years to teaching in the Campbell County School District, where she touched the lives of countless students and families throughout her career.

Margaret had a true gift for gardening and took great pride in her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She also shared a special creative bond with her husband, Ken, as the two enjoyed making crafts together and traveling to craft shows each year to share their work with others.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 30 years, Ken Owens; her children, Suzanne Ziegler (Steve), Wade Cookendorfer (Jennifer), Scott Owens, Greg Owens (Joyce), Kelly Owens (Daniel), and Katie Owens; her brother, Eddie Stewart (Sharon); thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; as well as her niece and nephew.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at a later date.
