Obituary For Margaret Kathleen Schoembs

Margaret Kathleen (nee. Fox ) Schoembs, of Highland Heights, Kentucky, age 75, passed away on November 3, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Kathy was born on April 4, 1950, in Cheboygan, Michigan to the late Daniel R. Fox, Sr. and Nora A Fox (nee Smith).

Kathy was raised in St. Ignace, Michigan and graduated from Onsted High School in 1968, The Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1971, and from the Honors Program of the University of Toledo in 1990. Kathy married George Walter Schoembs on July 17, 1971. They spent over 54 years together and raised their two beautiful children, Steven George and Julie Michelle.

As a devoted nurse and administrator, Kathy worked for The Toledo Hospital for 35 years, being in various areas and capacities allowed her many wonderful opportunities for professional growth and satisfaction.

While in Toledo, she served as the first female President of Memorial Lutheran Church. She also served as President of the St. Clement School Parent Association, where her children attended grade school. Kathy loved to read and enjoyed staying connected to her family and friends. She would talk for hours with everyone and loved hearing updates from them, providing support, and genuinely loving everyone in her life.

Moving to the Cincinnati area almost four years ago allowed her and George to spend more time with their beloved grandchildren, as her dedication to both the Lord and her family truly shaped the basis of her life.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband George, son Steve (Kelly), daughter Julie (DJ), grandchildren Kaitlyn, Ryan, Hailey, & Tyler Schoembs, Madeline & Jacob Janszen, her loving sister, Nancy Williams, and brothers Robert (Shari) and Daniel Fox. Kathy is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, godchildren, and dear friends, including the Dulinski, Lawrence, Martinez, and Mayers Families.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Nora Bennett, David Fox, & Frederick Fox.
