Obituary For Marian Rose Vogt

Marian Rose Vogt (neé Buchert) died on Sunday, January 4th, 2026, surrounded by her family, just weeks short of her 96th birthday.

Marian was forever loyal to her one true love and husband of nearly 35 years, Vince. Known by her childhood nickname ‘Pud’ to her family and oldest friends, she embraced life’s twists and turns buoyed by her Catholic faith, a deep well of resilience, and the occasional nip of Kentucky bourbon.

Marian and Vince met as students at Thomas More University (formerly Villa Madonna College), where Marian earned a degree in biology. Their legacy is a love story that endures today. Never a pair to do anything halfway, together they raised eight children, with their oldest seven children born within a span of just ten years. At 48, Marian defied both convention and the odds when she and Vince welcomed their eighth child. Their family home in Fort Thomas stands in the shadow of Saint Thomas parish, where they were active and life-long parishioners. A hive of activity (and more often than not, a lively party), the Vogt family home frequently welcomed an expansive circle of family and friends.

Following Vince’s death in 1987, Marian redoubled her commitment to her eight children, and ultimately, her ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her ever-growing, tightknit, and joyfully raucous family remained her greatest pride.

As a widow, Marian nurtured her spirit of adventure and curiosity through travel. With friends new and old, she explored places from Tierra del Fuego to the Vatican. Known for her quick wit and cheeky humor, paired with the occasionally sharp tongue, Marian easily made friends of acquaintances and strangers alike. In her later years, Marian wintered in Bonita Springs, FL, where she embraced a new community of friends and a love of the Florida coast.

Towards the end of her life, Marian was supported by her family to live independently for as long as her mind and body could sustain. She is survived by her eight children: Gary (Anita Staubach), Dianne Ramey (Ken), Steve, Paul, Marty (Mary Jean), Kathleen Hardig (Mike), Christine Marty (Tim), and Allison (Dan Thornhill); alongside her ten grandchildren: Meghan Frost, Kristin Ford (Grant), Emily, Ryan (Katie), Meredith Byrns (Carter), Will Marty (Adi), Caroline Galvin (Josh), Sam Marty (Ella), Natalie Hardig, and Shep Marty (Emily); as well as five great grandchildren: Madelyn Frost, Jack and Ollie Ford, and Brynn and Baylor Marty. They are comforted by thoughts of Marian’s long-anticipated reunion with Vince in heaven.

A visitation will be held from 9:30am - 11:00am Monday, January 12,2026 at Saint Thomas Church, 26 East Villa Place, Fort Thomas, KY 41075. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft Thomas. The Vogt family requests that, as a tribute to Marian’s preferred personal style, attendees incorporate “happy colors” into their dress for the services.

In honor of Marian and Vince’s early years together at Thomas More, and in lieu of flowers, the Vogt family asks for donations to the Fund for the Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel on the campus of Thomas More University.
