Obituary For Marietta Ferring

Marietta “Mary” Ferring (née Egan), 76, of Grants Lick, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on June 14, 1949, to her parents Mary Egan (née Kouns) and Eddie Egan.

Mary lived a life defined by kindness, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. A graduate of Newport High School, she dedicated much of her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. Mary worked as a kindergarten aide and later as a middle school special needs aid, where her patience, compassion, and gentle spirit touched countless lives. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver, and the heart of her family.

Mary was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Ferring, Sr. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and support for generations of family members. She was the loving mother of Laura Dougherty (Doug) and William “Bill” Ferring Jr. (Lori), and a cherished grandmother to Bridget (whom Mary and Bill lovingly raised), Amanda, Colton, Amara, Lydia, Ethan, Taylor, Jon, and Jennica. She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Mary is survived by her siblings Connie Sharp, Sandy Domyan, Bill Egan, Frank Plantholt, Michael Egan, and Tim Egan, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.

A member of St. Mary’s Church, Mary found strength in her faith and community. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and spending time with friends. Her calendar was often full of lunches, outings, and gatherings, reflecting the many friendships she cultivated over the years. Whether tending her garden, watching birds from her window, or sharing stories with loved ones, Mary found joy in life’s simple blessings.

Those who knew Mary will remember her as a woman who always put others before herself. She was the matriarch of her family—the one everyone turned to for comfort, guidance, and unconditional love. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her warm heart made everyone feel welcome. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria, Kentucky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Alexandria, Kentucky, followed by a procession and entombment at St. Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas.

Mary’s family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, faith, kindness, and selflessness will continue through the generations she helped shape. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
