Obituary For Mark Edward Halpin

Mark Edward Halpin, 73, of Edgewood, Kentucky passed away on September 19, 2024 surrounded by his family at home. He was born to the late Thomas and Mary Lou Halpin on January 10, 1951 in Dayton, Kentucky. He enjoyed entertaining and loving in equal measure, Mark lived a life filled with laughter, sarcasm, and a passion for travel.

A proud graduate of Covington Latin and Thomas More College, he went on to the UK School of Dentistry, where he discovered that fixing teeth was far more enjoyable than being on the receiving end of a dental chair. In 1978, he opened his own dental practice, in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. He was so proud and honored when his late son, Jared Halpin, decided to join his dental practice in 2005.

Mark was a master of multitasking—whether he was boating or attempting to perfect his swing on the golf course, he managed to do it all with an impressive flair. If he wasn’t plotting his next travel escapade, you could find him on FaceTime, with his grandkids or competing in “word cookies”.

Mark’s family and friends were his everything, especially his grandkids who could do no wrong. They could even get the boat wet.

Mark leaves behind a legacy of laughter and a family that will forever roll their eyes at his humor but cherish the memories of the man who made life a little brighter (and a lot more sarcastic).

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Halpin, his daughters; Chrissy (Brent) Dean, and Amy (Kyle) Johnson, his daughter-in-law, Jaime Halpin, his grandchildren; Blake Johnson, Logan Dean, Tyler Johnson, Jackson Halpin, Colton Dean, Carter Halpin, Abby Halpin, Reagan Dean, and his siblings; Mary Anne Gurnee, Pat Walls, Michael Halpin, Sue Rahali, Barb McGraw, Janice Halpin, and Brad Halpin.

In addition to his son, Jared, Mark is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Halpin.

A visitation for Mark will be held at St. Pius X Church on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm with a Mass to follow at 6:00pm. A reception will be held to follow Mass at the Edgewood White House Event Center.
