Obituary For Martin A. Haas

Dr. Martin A. Haas of Lakeside Park, Kentucky, passed away from congestive heart failure on June 3, 2026, at the age of 88. A pioneer in his field, as the First Pediatric Dentist to practice in Northern Kentucky on July 1, 1970.

A graduate of St. Xavier High School, Xavier University, and the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, Dr. Haas completed his residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He served on the attending staffs of both Children’s Hospital and St. Luke–St. Elizabeth Hospital of Northern Kentucky.

A dedicated leader in Children’s Dentistry, Dr. Haas was an active member of the Cincinnati Dental Society, Northern Kentucky Dental Society, American Dental Association, and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He was also a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Beloved husband of 66 years to Mary A. “Maggie” Wehrman Haas; devoted father to Martin Haas Jr. (Deb), Dr. David Haas (Dr. Laurie), Genevieve Haas (Lauri Berles), Gregory Haas (Ren Wright), Heather Haas, and Jordan Haas (Jennifer); cherished “Da” to grandchildren Sheila Redding, Maj. Sarah Berheide (Maj. Adam), Dr. Ryan Haas (Capt. Megan), Dr. Emily Haas, Connor Haas (Dr. Makayla), Dr. Tyler Sauerbeck, Drew Haas, and Paige Haas; proud great grandad to Claire and Caroline Redding, Xavier, Maria, and David Berheide.

Predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Marie Maloney Haas; his brothers, Dr. Paul Haas, James Haas, and Thomas Haas; his sister, Claire Haas Hehman; and many nieces and nephews.

For 44 years, Dr. Haas was beloved by his patients, their families, and his staff for his compassionate care and gentle approach.

Dr. Haas lived his life guided by the Jesuit principle of “finding God in all things,” truly embodying what it means to be a man for others.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to The Point Arc or to Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home (DCCH).
