Obituary For Mary Arlene Finn
Mary Arlene Finn, 75, of Independence , Kentucky, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 27, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late John and Mary McCrea.
Arlene shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, John. Together, they created a lifetime of memories through their love of traveling. They frequently traveled to Florida and enjoyed memorable trips to Europe and Mexico. One of their favorite traditions was traveling to Florida to watch the New York Yankees during spring training. Arlene and John also cherished their Saturday tradition of stopping at Bob Evans or Texas Roadhouse before attending evening Mass together.
Arlene was a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Taylor Mill, Kentucky, where her faith was an important part of her life. She also dedicated 27 years of her life to teaching at Beechgrove, where she touched the lives of many students and families through her kindness, patience, and love of teaching.
Outside of traveling and spending time with her husband, Arlene found great joy in the simple things. She loved working in her yard and had a special appreciation for flowers and plants. She also enjoyed reading, especially the novels of Nora Roberts, Stephen King and Nicholas Sparks. Each week, Arlene looked forward to spending time with her daughter and friends, enjoying evenings of line dancing at local wineries and bars.
Above all else, Arlene was an amazing grandmother. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her love, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Daub) McCrea, and her beloved daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Finn.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John Finn; son, Danny Finn; daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Frey; grandchildren, Cameron McHargue, Cieria Frey, Sydnie Frey, and Jay Frey; sister, Patricia (Sam West) Clifford; brother, John McCrea; and her loving dog, Busta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Arlene’s name.
