Obituary For Mary Seward
Mary Elizabeth Seward, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. She was born in Campbell County, Kentucky on May 27, 1939, to the late Joseph and Garnet Horstman.
One of twelve children, Mary learned early that caring for others was a way of showing love. She carried that love into the home she shared with her beloved husband, Allen Seward, where they raised their daughter, Julie. Children always held a special place in her heart, and she freely gave countless hours to school activities, including band events. When her granddaughters, Chrissey and Heather, came into her life, she became their beloved Gram—a simple name that held so much love, especially to Chrissey whom Mary raised. With a heart like Jesus, Mary did more than lend a helping hand; she made people feel that they mattered, that they belonged, and that they were loved.
If you called her grandma, whether you were related or not, you held a very special place in her heart. But if you called her Gram or Gigi, you were everything to her. Mary was a selfless person. She loved like Jesus, not looking for praise, self-fulfillment, or recognition. Mary wanted others to feel the difference her love could make in their lives. Her faith guided her, and her compassion never wavered. Above all, she loved her family with her whole heart. Her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren—being with them was where she most wanted to be, and nothing brought her greater joy.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents, Joseph and Garnet Horstman; her husband, Allen Seward; several of her siblings and her grandson, James.
Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her daughter, Julie Jenkins; her granddaughters, Chrissey (Rob) Lunsford and Heather (Todd) Howard; great-grandchildren, Madison (Jake) Evans, Susan (Chance) Bauereis, Bob Lunsford, John Howard, and Annmarie Howard; great-great-grandchildren, Addison Lunsford, Harper Evans, and Beau Bauereis; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Home 30 Commonwealth Ave, Erlanger, KY 41018. Burial will take place at the convenience of her family.
