Melissa Gail Hensley (neé: Allen), 59 years of age, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, with her devoted family at her side. Melissa is preceded in death by her father, Jack Allen. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Hensley; daughter, Grace Wainscott (Michael Newton); grandchildren, Calvin and Liam Newton; her mother, Sandra Franks; her stepfather, Richard Franks; and her stepbrothers, Edward Bailey and Ryan Franks. Melissa was an excellent writer and an amazing crafter of jewelry. she enjoyed UK Basketball, camping and was blessed with a “green thumb”. She fulfilled her vocation in life by teaching English at Holy Cross, Holmes, Summit View, and Dixie Heights High School. Melissa was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Friday, May 3, 2023, at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. Hwy 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. A celebration of Melissa’s life will continue following the service at Beef O’Brady’s, 1597 Cavalry Drive, Union, Kentucky 41091, until 10:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, c/o St. Elizabeth Foundation, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Kentucky 41017 or the Daughters of the American Revolution (Checks payable to Boone County DAR) c/o Jessica Dille-Jones, 1504 Shirepeak Way, Independence, Kentucky 41051.
