Obituary For Michael "Scott" Silvester
On May 6, 2026, Michael “Scott” Silvester of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at 79 years of age.
Scott was born to Dewain and Zola Silvester in Provo, Utah, on March 21, 1947. He was the second of seven brothers and was raised in the shadows of his beloved Teton Mountains.
Scott was a lifelong student. In between degrees, he peppered his resume with jobs from ‘a real life cowboy’ in Wyoming to educating adult inmates and eventually junior high students in Utah. Teaching became one of his greatest passions. It led him to a 32-year career with the federal government, brought him to his home in Kentucky, and ultimately introduced him to the love of his life, Vivian Kay.
His hobbies and interests included computers, woodworking, drawing, painting, and traveling. He loved to travel and was fortunate to have achieved his goal of visiting all 50 states, and he made it to 26 countries. He was very involved as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in his youth and held various positions within the church.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Kay Silvester; his daughters Heather Renie (Phillip) of Utah and Amity Cochrane (Dan) of Idaho; his stepsons Jeff Wells (Nicole) and Michael Wells (Nikole) of Kentucky; several precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Rick (Melanie) of Ohio, Tom (Robin) of Idaho, Bob (Kris) of Utah, Mark (Brenda) of Idaho, and Kelen (Barbara) of Oregon; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members and friends.
He was greeted on the other side by not only his parents, but his little brother David, and two of his grandchildren. Scott will be remembered as a kind man who loved serving God, his family, and others.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Saturday, May 23rd, at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2965 Hebron Park Drive Hebron, Kentucky 41048.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Bluegrass Care Navigators Northern Kentucky.
