Obituary For Nancy Misner

Nancy was born in Michigan and grew up in a warm and loving family that instilled in her a spirit of generosity and kindness. She was a member of a religious order for a short time but found the lay life more suitable to her life goals.

Nancy was a teacher that never left the classroom. Her speciality was working with gifted and talented. She was named the State Director for Odyssey of the Mind and served in that role for over a decade.

Nancy was always humble sharing her many accolades with her peers. She preferred the noise of the classroom, the laughter of children, the joy of a child getting a box full of boogers, farts or slime for their birthday or any other day special or not.

She gave much and asked little. Nancy somehow managed to take care of everyone. For her last 18 months she lived at Madonna Manor in assisted living and true to form…if someone was sitting alone, Nancy would find her way to them and have them laughing and carrying on in no time. Her laugh could be heard down the hall. Nancy never cared about the color of anyone’s skin or how someone pronounced their last name.

She was always there for the fun things like weddings and birthdays and there for the hard things like sickness and death. After her sister Teri died, she became a hospice volunteer for Hospice of Michigan and when she moved to Kentucky, she volunteered for the Hospice of St. Elizabeth. Always there, always laughing, always caring, always loving.

Nancy will be greatly missed by all who loved her and by those whose lives she touched along the way. Her memorial Mass will be at Madonna Manor, 11:00, Sept. 26, 2026. Just like Nancy, she wanted to see a shuttle purchased for the residents of Madonna Manor. Contributions honoring Nancy can be made to “Pretty Nancy Misner’s Magic Shuttle” c/o Madonna Manor, 2344 Amsterdam Rd. Villa Hills, KY 41017.
