Obituary For Nicholas Bernard Klare
Nicholas Klare, 40, of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, passed away on October 15, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 2, 1985, in Covington, Kentucky, Nick was a quiet, easygoing, and hardworking man who found great joy in the simple things in life, especially time spent outdoors and with the people he loved.
A 2004 graduate of Covington Catholic High School, Nick took great pride in his grass-cutting business. He loved being outside in the sunshine and took every opportunity to work outdoors. Rainy days were never his favorite, as they meant he couldn’t cut grass. His dedication, determination, and love for his work were evident to everyone who knew him. He was also a creative thinker who enjoyed drawing out his ideas and envisioning how things should be. One of his future project designs was to have a sidewalk connecting his home to his brother Andrew’s house next door, reflecting his desire to stay connected with family.
Nick was a devoted Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan who enjoyed relaxing on the patio, watching a game, or sitting around a bonfire with Andrew and his family. He also loved Hallmark movies, watching Gold Rush on the Discovery Channel, and celebrating Christmas, his favorite holiday. He had a special appreciation for good food, particularly pumpkin pie, apple pie, crab cakes, shrimp, steak, and Reese’s pumpkin-shaped chocolates.
Nick lived with spinal muscular atrophy, a neuromuscular disease that brought changes and challenges to his life. He faced those changes in his own way, often reassuring those around him with his familiar response, “I’m fine.” Private by nature, Nick didn’t always share what he was feeling, but his quiet presence and loving heart meant so much to those closest to him. He could be stubborn when he had his mind set on something, but that same determination was a defining part of who he was.
One of Nick’s greatest joys was being an uncle. He loved his nieces and nephews dearly and delighted in spoiling them, often spending more than he had planned. His love for them was unmistakable, and those moments will remain treasured memories for his family.
Nick’s memory will live on through the family who loved him, the work he took pride in, and the many everyday moments that brought him happiness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas Bernard and Rita Ann Klare; his maternal grandparents, Owen Paul and Dolores Huffman; and several uncles.
Nick is survived by his parents, Bill and Paula Klare; his siblings, Jennifer (Adam) Nash, Andrew (Amanda) Klare, and Nathan Klare; his beloved nieces and nephews, Hudson and Case Nash, and Chloe and Erin Klare; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes, 30 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, Kentucky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at St. Agnes Church in Park Hills, Kentucky. Nick will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wound Care St. Elizabeth Foundation, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation, 970 W Broadway Ste E PMB 140 Jackson, WY 83001.
