Obituary For Norma Jean Penick

Norma Jean Penick, 87, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Norma was a woman defined by her strong-willed, independent nature. Full of spunk and quick wit, she possessed a wonderful sense of humor and always managed to find joy and laughter in everything around her. She was happiest traveling with family, doing yard work, baking treats, and sitting quietly with her crocheting. Above all, her greatest passion was spending time with those she loved.

She is survived by her loving children, Gregory Penick and Lori (Randall) Ray; sisters, Nancy Ellis and Jane Hebel; her five grandchildren, Eric Penick, Amanda (Michael) Ray Shaw, Rachel (Christopher) Ray Poe, Erin (Jeff) Dupps, and Ryan (Justin) Penick; and her thirteen great-grandchildren, Abigail, Lane, Lilly, Ellen, Skyler, Savannah, Shayne, Madalyn, Maya, Sawyer, Jacqueline, Warren, and Charlotte.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Maragret Reis; her beloved husband, Jerry Penick, and her sister, Joyce Ackerson.

While our hearts mourn her loss, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was – a woman whose laughter was contagious, whose spirit was strong and whose sass kept everyone on their toes. Norma’s legacy lives on in the stories shared around family tables, in the laughter of those she loved and in the memories that will be treasured for generations.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the organization of one's choice in Norma’s memory.
