Obituary For Peter Hubert DeBruyn

Peter Hubert “Pete” DeBruyn, 82, of Erlanger, Kentucky, passed away on January 13, 2026, just one day after celebrating his 82nd birthday.

Pete was born on January 12, 1944, in Limburgh, Holland, to the late Henry and Maria (née Alartz) DeBruyn. He later made his home in Northern Kentucky.

Pete was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved deer hunting, hiking, fishing, and camping. Known for his quiet humor and practical nature, he rarely went anywhere without a spoon tucked into his shirt pocket in case he stopped for ice cream—and always a napkin, because, as he liked to say, “you never know when you need them.”

He worked for Bluegrass Quality Meats for 35 years, a long and proud career marked by dedication and reliability. In addition, Pete selflessly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Erlanger Fire Department for 23 years.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacqueline DeBruyn; his son-in-law, Tim Inabnit; his sister-in-law, Shahana DeBruyn; and brother in law, Jerry Hoobler.

He is survived by his children, Jeff DeBruyn, Sonya Inabnit, Robin DeBruyn, and Sharon Bailey; his grandchildren, Brittney and Beau (Ashley) Inabnit, Daylan and Tanner Bailey, Jessica DeBruyn, Amber (Cody) Ashcraft, Rachael (Billy) Wagner, Angela DeBruyn, and James Loveless; 19 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Harry (Diana) DeBruyn, Gert (David) Rouse, Elizabeth “Liz” (Charlie) Bailey, and John DeBruyn, his sister in law, Carol Hoobler, brother in law, Daryl (Marilyn) McCall as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Pete will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, Kentucky, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer’s research or the American Cancer Society.
