Obituaries

Richard "Rick" Arthur Buechel, Jr., 72, of Newport, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

He was a member of St. Therese Parish in Southgate, KY, and a 1971 graduate of Newport Catholic High School in Newport, KY.

Rick worked as a parts manager with K.O.I. Motors for 30+ years and retired from Smith Muffler in Covington, KY. He was a member of Newport Housing Authority Commission and a former member of the Newport Planning and Zoning Committee.

Rick was a classic car enthusiast and an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan. He absolutely loved spending time with his friends and family.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents: Rich and Anne Buechel, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife: Terry Buechel; children: Bridget Donovan, Richard Arthur Buechel, III, Angela (Brett) Spaulding, Jason (Erin) Willitzer, Annie (Adam) Spaulding, Jessi (Brigid) Willitzer, Stacy (Eric) Ridpath and Austin (Fran) Buechel; siblings: Cindy (Dave) Slocum, Jim (Laurie) Buechel, Steve (Missy) Buechel and Gerry (Cheryl) Buechel; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 10:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM (Noon) at St. Therese Church, 11 Temple Place, Southgate, KY 41071. Interment will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas, KY.
