Obituary For Richard Louis Lux

Rick Lux of Erlanger passed away at the age of 68 on the evening of May 14, 2026.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Thelma; and his brother, Steven.

Rick is survived by his wife, Rose, of 26 years; their children, Zachary (Kelly), Lydia (Kyle), and Ross (Anastasia); his brother, Tom (Pam); his sister-in-law, Kathy; his grandchildren, Samuel, Grace, Lucy, and Tyson; and numerous cousins.

Rick had a long career as a pharmaceutical representative, preceded by a career in banking.

Rick and Rose were also known for hosting a unique annual Kentucky Derby party, which always included a rendition of “My Old Kentucky Home.” You could find Rick at Keeneland Race Course any weekend in April and October.

He was a member of the Covington Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was a traditional man who loved surprises and took his family to Jamaica and Ludington annually. Rick loved a good joke, told great stories, and enjoyed sharing his extensive knowledge of wine, music, audio, and horse racing.

Rick was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather.

Rick’s family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow. Rick will be laid to rest at St. John Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Covington Catholic High School Athletic Boosters 1600 Dixie Highway Park Hills, KY 41011 or Calvary Christian School (Attn: Development) 5955 Taylor Mill Road Covington, KY 41015.

Rick was a devoted supporter of CovCath basketball, attending numerous games, whether at home or away. I vividly recall Rick sitting with Jeff Ruby and myself at the Madison Central game and even though it was a loss he was still rooting on the team to the bitter end. During the Ninth Region Championship game, which was the last time I spoke with him, he was in the first row, enthusiastically cheering the Colonels from behind our bench, as loud as any of the CovCath Crazies. Rick cherished Covington Catholic, and I will miss our conversations before and after each game. Rest in peace, Rick. I have no doubt you will be watching over the Colonels from above. .
