Obituary For Rickey Morgan
Rickey Morgan, age 68, of Elsmere, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1958, to the late Donald and Leetta (nee Amburgey) Morgan.
Rickey began his working life as a cook at Waffle House before eventually starting his own business. He went on to install underground cable lines and work on telephone poles, building a successful business of his own before making his living as a truck driver. He spent many years behind the wheel, and on long road trips, he enjoyed listening to music, especially the timeless country music of George Jones. In recent years, Rickey put his mechanical skills to work as a diesel mechanic for the trucking company. He also enjoyed working on cars in his spare time, often spending time in his garage tinkering on various projects.
A true homebody, Rickey was happiest spending time at home with his beloved wife, Verna. The two enjoyed relaxing together and watching Hallmark movies, often in the company of their two dogs, Miracle and Roscoe. He cherished the simple moments spent with his family and the comforts of home.
In addition to his parents, Rickey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sue and James Amburgey; his grandson, Tyler Morgan; his brother, James Morgan; and his cousins, Johnny and Ray Amburgey.
Rickey is survived by his loving wife, Verna; his sons, Jon (Nicole) Morgan and Mike (Amanda) Morgan; his grandchildren, Courtney Morgan, Rictor Morgan, Molly Morgan, Kaytlin Morgan, and Kaylee Morgan; his brother, Eddy (Amber) Morgan; many nieces and nephews, and his mother-in-law, Loretta Allen-Colon. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Linnemann Funeral Homes from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
