Obituary For Robert Martin Murray
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Martin Murray, age 82, who passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. Born on March 24, 1944, in Covington, KY, to Thomas and Jane Murray, Bob grew up in Ft. Wright and attended Covington Catholic High School.
Bob dedicated over 40 years of his life as a Union Sheet Metal Worker, spending the majority of his career with Peck Hannaford and Briggs. His work was defined by his unwavering dedication, quiet leadership, and outstanding service to his trade. Beyond his professional life, Bob was deeply committed to his community. He generously supported the Ronald McDonald House through continuous donations and was a long-time, active member of the Brookwood Swim Club. In his free time, he found joy in home improvement projects, gardening, tennis, and golf, and in retirement he particularly loved spending his winters in Florida with Trudy.
Known for his kindness, boundless humor, and fierce dedication to his family, Bob was a bright light who brought joy into every room he entered. He never met a stranger, and his quick wit brought endless laughter to those who knew him. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished taking them to Panama City Beach, Florida—a beloved tradition he and his late wife, Jean, started with their own daughters years ago. Throughout his life, Bob touched countless people through his hard work, genuine friendship, and a lifetime of service to others.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Ann (Meyer) Murray; his parents, Thomas and Jane Murray; his brother, Tom Murray; and his sister, Janeen Ratliff.
He is survived by his loving wife, Trudy; his daughters, Kim (Greg) Napier, Cathy (Eric) Benson, and Jenny (Andy) Brueggemann; his stepdaughters, Tricia Redmond and Michelle (Bobby) Rose; and his sister, Colleen Brockman. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Drew (Katie) Napier, Abby Napier, Claire Benson, Gunnar (Andi) Benson, Sophia Benson, Shelby (Joe) Wilkens, Brooke Brueggemann, Haley Brueggemann, Hunter Brueggemann, Isabella Meyer, Callie Schneider, Luke Schneider, and Ava Schneider; as well as his great-grandchildren: Cooper Napier, Sawyer Wilkens, and Sloane Wilkens.
Though he will be deeply missed, Bob’s kindness and good spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X in Edgewood, KY, on Friday, May 22, at 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the mass in the St. Pius X undercroft.
