Obituary For Ronald Arthur Simpson

Ronald Arthur Simpson, age 87, of Florence, KY, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 08, 2025, while doing one of the things he loved most — golfing with his son, Travis, on a beautiful fall day.

Ronnie was a retired Engineer for CSX Railroad, a proud U.S. Army Veteran, and a devoted member of Burlington Baptist Church. He was truly a friend to everyone he met, known for his kind heart, servant spirit, and easy smile.

After moving from Independence to the Villas of Southfork in Florence in 2016, Ronnie quickly became an active part of his new community. He volunteered to help with the grounds, lent a hand to neighbors in need, and even served on the Homeowners Association Board.

Ronnie found joy in simple pleasures — golfing, fishing, gardening, cheering on his beloved UK Wildcats, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved a good competition, whether it was a round of golf, a card game, or a family board game night, and over the years, he proudly achieved four holes-in-one.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Webb and Bertha Reynolds Simpson; his brothers, Johnny, Leslie, Eddie, Floyd, David, Gary, and Merle Simpson; and his sisters, Lettie Loechel, Marjorie Hall, Connie Simpson, and Rema Ashcraft.

Ronnie is lovingly survived by his wife (of 64 years), Alice Jill Webster Simpson; his daughter, Rhonda Jill Wertz (Chad); his son, William Travis Simpson (Jeanette); his grandchildren, Owen Simpson (Meda), Luke Simpson, and Anna Simpson; and his brothers, Allen Simpson and Frank Simpson (Shirley).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, officiated by Brother Josh Schmidt. Interment with military honors will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097.

Memorial donations in Ronnie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
