Obituaries

Ronald Charles Abel, 90, of Latonia, went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2026.

Ron was an electrician for 60 years. He was a hard worker and provided for his family well.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a loyal friend who loved spending time with the people he loved. He loved to travel both in the US and abroad.

Ron was a man of faith and a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was happily married to Mary Lou for 67 years. Ron lived life to the fullest and he will always be remembered as a man demonstrated to work hard, live generously, and have fun.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Mary Lou Abel (Portier), his parents Charles and Myrtle (Ward) Abel, and his sisters Janet Leitsinger and Judy Bird.

He is survived by his daughter Pam Sheaffer and son-in-law Paul, his son Chuck Abel and daughter-in-law Kim; 6 grandchildren: Kristin (Aaron) Scanlan, Kasey (Kelly) Sheaffer, Kaitlyn (Luke) Tolley, Kelsey (Alex) Downton, Kassidy (Jon) Schoonover, Karley Abel; and 13 great-grandchildren: Rachel, Elijah and Lissie Scanlan; Will and Emmie Sheaffer; Eliana, Elliot, and Emarie Tolley; Jude, Joey and Jones Downton; and Mason and Marlow Schoonover.

Visitation 10-11:30 with funeral service beginning at 11:30, April 2, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church Chapel, 3711 Tibbatts St. Latonia, KY 41015. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery following the service.
