Obituaries

Ronald C. “Ron” Kampsen, age 81, of Union, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Kampsen (née Kelly); his children, Michael Kampsen (Kathy), Steven Kampsen (Heather), and Brian Kampsen; his sister, Kathleen VanLandingham (Paul); his grandchildren, Courtney Jones (Casey), Ashley Hall (Nick), Derek Kampsen, Annie Taylor (Aaron), Allie Sexton (Derrick), Samantha Young (Kyle), and Jessica Horton (Kody); and his great-grandchildren, Cora, Mylah, Jonah, Levi, Wyatt, Linden, Blaire, Emilia, KC, Addison, and Everett. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alvera Kampsen; stepfather, Florian Niekamp; and sister, Joann.

Ron began his career immediately after graduating from high school, working at Dover Elevator before eventually founding his own elevator company, Tesco. He devoted his life to his work, taking great pride in his profession and the company he built. But above all, Ron was devoted to his family. After retirement, nothing made him happier than spending time with his wife, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and discussing elevators with his sons.

Visitation will be held at Middendorf Funeral Home located at 3312 Madison Pike, Fort Wright, KY 41017 on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until the prayer service begins at 2:00 p.m. Internment will immediately follow at Mother of God cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
