Obituary For Rosemary J. Bonar

Rosemary J. Bonar, 79, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to her late parents, Joseph and Louise Prosser Bonfield.

Rosemary’s life was filled with faith, music, and love for her family. A devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church, she shared her love of song through the church choir and music ministry. She also enjoyed the friendships and fellowship she found in the Red Hat Society, her prayer groups, and the Always and Forever music group. Rosemary worked for many years in Quality Management at St. Elizabeth Healthcare.

Whether singing, settling in with a good book, or spending time with those she loved, Rosemary found joy in the people and interests closest to her heart. She and Butch especially treasured their time traveling with dear friends, making memories together along the way. Above all, she treasured her family. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she leaves behind cherished memories and a love that will continue through the generations. She also held her family in Kansas close to her heart, cherishing the bonds they shared despite the miles between them.

Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, George “Butch” Bonar; her daughters, Lesa D. Roberts (Ron), Sherri D. Lee (Mike), and Gretchen S. Day (Dennis); and her son, George Andrew Bonar (Holly). She was the proud and loving grandmother of Phoebe Roberts, Celeste Roberts, Gavin Bonar (Emily), Jenna Haywood (Matt), Maura Lee, Mike Lee Jr., Aiden Day, Ava Sue Day, Katie Bonar, Eli Bonar, Josh Bonar, and Hannah Rose Bonar; and great-grandmother of Rhys Haywood, Emmett Haywood, and Lilly Haywood. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Joann Bay.

In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her brothers, Patrick Bonfield and Herb Seidl, and her sisters, Carol Sue Rechtin and Mary Louise Hamilton.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 US Highway 42, Florence, KY 41042. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 pm at St. Paul Catholic Church, 7301 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. Burial will immediately follow at Mother of God Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Rosemary’s honor are suggested to St. Elizabeth Foundation (Vision), 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1733 Harrodsburg Rd, Lexington, KY 40504.
