Obituary For Sallye Earles Van Dyne
Sallye Earles Van Dyne, age 79, passed away on June 19, 2026 with her family beside her.
She was the daughter of the late Wick & Marietta Earles of Leitchfield, KY and is survived by her devoted husband, Al Van Dyne, daughter Mary (Guy) Fulner, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her brother, sister, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children. She loved her family deeply and adored every one of them.
Sallye was born and raised in Leitchfield, Kentucky, and throughout her life also called New York and Tennessee home before settling in Independence, Kentucky, after a distinguished 35-year career with the Internal Revenue Service. In retirement, she remained active in the National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), organizations that reflected her dedication to service and history.
Above all, Sallye cherished her family. She found great joy in tracing her ancestry, preserving the stories and connections that meant so much to her. She loved traveling with her grandchildren, family, and dear friends, cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats & FC Cincinnati, watching Jeopardy and all things Star Wars.
Sallye had an endless curiosity and was a lifelong learner, always eager to try something new and was brave enough to even give karaoke a try. She was always impeccably dressed, quick with a clever remark, and had a remarkable gift for recalling the funny sayings of her mother and father, bringing smiles to those around her. Her strength, grace, and sense of humor carried her through life’s challenges and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and profoundly missed.
Memorial Service will be held on July 18, 2026, 12pm EST at Short Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church
