Obituary For Scott Alan Mullens
Scott Alan Mullens, 58, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Carespring Transitional Care in Coldspring, KY. He was born in Huntington West Virginia on December 24, 1967, to Helen (Skeens) Mullens and the late Rev. Larry Mullens.
Scott obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall and Liberty Universities. He selflessly served over 25 years in ministry as a youth pastor. He had an immense love for pastoring and sharing God’s word. Scott had the privilege and great honor to officiate the marriages of several of his former youth as well as members of his family. He treasured these opportunities because they allowed him to walk alongside each couple and offer gentle guidance as they began building their lives together. Scott was a great man who touched a lot of lives through ministry and will be missed more than words can express.
Scott was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play. He loved photography and would drive around to discover unique and character-filled church doors that inspired him to capture the perfect shot.
Preceding Scott in death are his father, Rev. Larry Mullens; his maternal and paternal grandparents and his brother, Aaron Mullens.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 23 ½ years, Carrie Mullens; his mother, Helen Mullens; mother-in-law, Donna Whitcomb; father-in-law, Mike (Lori) Murphy; brother-in-law, Chad Murphy; niece, Emma Murphy; nephew, Michael J. Murphy and host of extended family and great friends.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Scott’s life on Friday, September 4th, 2026, at Burlington Baptist Church 3031 Washington St. Burlington, KY 41005. Visitation will be at 12pm with a service following at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Burlington Baptist Church or National Kidney Foundation.
