Obituary For Sharon Ann Garls

Sharon Ann Garls, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Burlington, Kentucky. She was born on November 16, 1950, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, to Norman and Welma Zech.

Sharon dedicated 30 years of her career to General Electric, where she proudly served on the Information Technology team. She was known for her intelligence, quick wit, logical thinking, and determination. One of her major accomplishments was an IT application named SAGE which would monitor jet engine performance in flight. She also worked with the legal team helping to research and help with Compliance case write ups. Sharon was a person of great integrity and modesty.

Sharon and her husband, Daniel Garls, shared a beautiful 53-year marriage filled with adventure, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Together they shared a deep love for travel and created treasured memories visiting destinations around the world, including Sydney, Australia; Tokyo, Japan; Singapore; Bombay, India; Frankfurt, Germany; Paris, France; and London, England. Their most beloved and frequently visited places, however, were McAllen, Texas, and South Padre Island, Texas, where they spent many happy times together.

In her free time, Sharon enjoyed quilting and sewing. With a minor in tailoring, she loved sewing and expressing her creativity through fabric and design. She was also a proud member of the Stringtown Quilters Guild, where she shared her passion for quilting and friendship with fellow members.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Welma Zech, and her sister, Mel Zech.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Garls; her daughter, Brandy (David) Lyons; her son, Joshua Garls; her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Mitchell Lyons, and Morgan Kaufmann; her sisters, Sandra (Karl) Hesterberg and her twin sister, Susan (Jerry) Flier; along with eight beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held on June 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home in Mason, Ohio.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Stringtown Quilters
Guild, or St.Elizabeth Hospice.
