Obituaries

Sherry Willard Ruge passed away at her home in Clearwater, Florida, on August 18, 2026. She grew up in Silver Grove, Ky, and lived in Lexington before moving to Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Cameron (Iris), Ryan (Ava), Amanda (Jeff), Georda (Mike), and Duane (Trish); five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Diane Ossege (Dan) and Kathy Culp (Keith), and her nieces and nephews and over thirty cousins.

Sherry was a beloved elementary school teacher for over thirty years and was a world traveler. She traveled across the U.S., Canada and Europe. Four months ago she was zipling in Panama with her good friends. She loved to read, solve crossword puzzles, and watching UK basketball. She had a beautiful singing voice and she was a kind and caring person.

Sherry loved having company and entertaining. Anybody coming to Florida would be invited to stay in her home. She loved playing games and her laugh filled the house with happiness.

Sherry also had a home in Cold Spring KY and spent many summers and holidays with her Kentucky family which are now cherished memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the club house at Chardonnay Condominiums in Cold Spring KY 41076 on October 11th at 2pm.
