Obituary For Sue Gayle Julick

Sue Gayle Julick (née Colomb) passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, in Edgewood, Kentucky, at the age of 74. Born on November 29, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Sue brought warmth, strength, and kindness to all those whose lives she touched. Her journey through life was marked by deep devotion to her family and an abiding spirit of generosity and love.

Sue was a caring mother to her sons, Brandon Matthews and Shane Matthews. She was deeply proud of them, drawing immense joy from their achievements and the families they built. Sue also cherished her relationships with her daughters-in-law, Vanessa Matthews and Emily Matthews, forming lasting bonds grounded in mutual respect and affection. Her heart expanded further with the arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose laughter and love brought her endless happiness.

Family meant everything to Sue, and the roots of her values can be traced to her upbringing in Chicago with her late parents, Ric and Leona Colomb. She was also predeceased by her beloved son Brett Matthews, whose memory remained a cherished part of her every day. Sue shared a special bond with her sister, Lynn Wheaton-Colomb, a testament to the enduring strength of familial love.

Sue’s presence was a constant source of positivity. Whether sharing in family celebrations, offering support during challenges, or providing words of encouragement, her compassion knew no bounds. Friends and loved ones alike recognized Sue for her sincerity and unwavering loyalty, qualities that enriched the lives of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life honoring Sue Gayle Julick will be held on August 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, located at 2718 Dixie Hwy, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects, celebrate her legacy, and share in the memory of a remarkable woman.

Sue’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who were privileged to know her. She will be remembered with love, gratitude, and the utmost respect.
