Obituary For Susan Lamb
Susan Lamb, 93, of Covington, KY, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at LaFollette Court Assisted Living in LaFollette, TN. The daughter of the late Amis and Tilda {Norton} Crutchfield, Susan was born in LaFollette, TN, on April 24, 1932. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked as a secretary. Following her retirement, she worked as a special education substitute teacher’s aide.
Susan was a devoted member of Higher Ground Church in Taylor Mill, KY. Susan’s talents were in the kitchen, where she shared her love through cooking and baking—especially her famous Mamaw’s yummy chocolate chip cookies, a family favorite that will always carry her memory. She found joy in simple pleasures, the hum of her sewing machine as she crafted something beautiful, the comforting challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle, and the peaceful hours she spent lost in a good book.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, D.K. Lamb; her 9 brothers Kermit, Ed, Albert, George, Bob, Hiram, Calvin, Jim, and Austin; her 3 sisters Lucinda, Dolly, and Ola; and her sons-in-law Keith Shumate and David McClain.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Karen Hendricks, Kathryn Vaske, and Kellie Shumate McClain; sons-in-law, Donald Hendricks and Ray Vaske; grandchildren, Jeff (Tracy) Vaske, Brian Hendricks, Ray J (Marcie) Vaske, Ashley (Adam) Deel, Susan (Mike) Jenkins, Eric Hendricks, Tim (Lesley) Vaske, Bethany (Clarence) Clifton, and David (Bethany) Shumate; great-grandchildren Derek (Sarah), Joseph, Avarie, Matthew, Gracie, Asher, Nathaniel, Ethan, Kailey, Aley, Miley, Eleanora, Emilia, Emery, and William; step-great-grandchildren Ethan and Eli; and great-great-grandchildren Benjamin, Anthony, and Gwendolyn.
A visitation will be held from 10 A.M. up until the service time at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, November 17th at Higher Ground Church, 5160 Taylor Mill Rd. Taylor Mill, KY 41015. Susan will be laid to rest with her husband at KY Veterans Cemetery North. Memorial donations may be made to Higher Ground Church at the address listed above.
