Obituary For Thomas Alan Ford
Thomas Alan Ford, 64, of Newport, KY, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 surrounded by his wife, Jennifer, daughter, Taylor, his two dogs and his four grand-dogs.
Tom was born March 20, 1962 in Covington, KY to Fred Ford and Helen (nee: Ryan) Ford. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Cheri Lambert and Michael, Danny & Angel Ford.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jennifer (nee: Schroeder) Ford, daughter, Taylor Rose Ford, his dogs, Gus and Brink, many grand-dogs & cats, siblings, Sheila (Dan) Horn, Jack Ford, Linda (Mark Harkenreader) Carson, Jim (Rebecca) Ford, also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Tom never met a stranger for long. He loved his family fiercely, adored his friends, spoiled his dogs, and could usually be found making someone laugh within five minutes of entering a room. He had an easy smile, goofy sense of humor, and a way of making even ordinary moments memorable.
A natural tinkerer and fixer of all things, Tom could repair just about anything-or at least confidently take it apart first. He was always happiest with a project in front of him, music blasting in the background, and a cold drink nearby. He worked as a Facilities Technician with the Hamilton County Public Library, where his hardworking nature, mechanical mind, and dependable spirit were appreciated by many.
Tom was a proud member of the Fort Thomas Swim Club where he was known as the cannonball king, a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan through every season, and a lifelong lover of music-especially classic rock and Led Zeppelin. Music wasn’t just something Tom listened to; it was part of who he was. He could identify almost any rock song within seconds, knew bands and drummers like old friends, and if there was a drum set nearby, Tom was probably already sitting behind it.
One of Tom’s favorite places in the world was his shed on the weekends, bourbon in hand, music turned all the way up. And when Tom listened to music, the entire neighborhood listened to music. Somehow, nobody seemed to mind too much.
More than anything, Tom loved his wife Jennifer and daughter Taylor with his whole heart. They were his world. Whether he was making people laugh, talking music, spoiling the dogs, cheering on the Reds, or sharing stories with friends, Tom made people feel welcome, comfortable, entertained, and loved. His laughter, stories, music, and unmistakable spirit will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to know him.
Visitation 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Friday, May 22, 2026 at Dobbling Funeral Home, 106 South Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Tom requested that donations be made to the School of Rock so that children can learn to express themselves through their love of music. Donations can be made through the website sorcincyaf.com/support-a-scholarship or Venmo:@sorcincyaf
