Obituary For Thomas Edward Barry
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Barry. Tom was a man of integrity who always stood up for what was right. He was a loving husband to Tamara (Tami) Barry and father to his two children, Olivia (David) Mueller and Andrew Barry. He led life by example and was well loved by his many family members and friends.
Tom worked for Delta Airlines for 38 years. He loved his job. In 1999, Delta ceased flying into western Canada and closed their operation. Tom became a stay-at-home Dad until Tami could obtain a transfer to the United States with her employment at the Department of Homeland Security.
In 2000, Tami received a transfer to Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tom moved his family to Kentucky where the Cincinnati International Airport is located. There, Tom simply picked up where he had left off, resuming his employment with Delta. Tom became a Naturalized U.S. citizen in 2004. He was a highly honorable and exemplary citizen.
Tom loved gardening and each spring would plant numerous flowers and vegetables in the yard. He very much enjoyed maintaining the gardens and yard. Tami would often joke that he only took her along to the seed store to just to push the cart, not to select anything. Neighbors and passersby would often comment how his lawn resembled a golf course.
Tom is predeceased by his loving parents, Edward and Roberta (Bobbi) Barry, his father-in-law, Harlind Ostrom and mother-in-law, Hazel Ostrom.
He is survived by his wife, Tami, and his two children, Olivia (David) Mueller and Andrew Barry. He is also survived by his four siblings, Mary Jo (Marty) Winters, Linda Barry (Rick Nykorak), Tim Barry (Diane), Todd Barry (Lorrie), and brother and sister-in-law, Todd (Marini) Ostrom, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Canada at a later date. There are no words to describe how Tom will be missed.
In lieu of the flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Boone County Animal Hospital in memory of Tom at https://www.boonecountyky.org/departments/animal_control/donate.php.
