Obituary For Thomas Reese Baxter
Thomas “Tom” Reese Baxter, 87, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with his devoted daughter by his side.
Born on October 14, 1938, in Fort Worth Texas, Tom was the son of the late L.C. and Caromae Baxter. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying that sense of dedication and quiet strength throughout his life.
Tom had a deep love for football, especially cheering on his favorite college team, Texas Christian University’s Horned Frogs. A natural athlete, Tom earned a track scholarship to both the University of Tulsa and Texas Christian University.
He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with his beloved dog, Mocha, working his land, and spending time at his trailer in Eagle Valley. He found freedom on the open road, traveling across the U.S. in RV style with his wife and family, creating a lifetime of memories at every stop. His nurturing spirit extended to his love for birds and hand-raising African Grey parrots. A lifelong 'gadget guy,' he spent many happy times at home exploring his newest gizmos. These moments reflected his kind spirit, love of family and his appreciation for the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia James Baxter, along with his brother and best friend, Louie Caplin “Cap” Baxter, II.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Kent Means; his cherished granddaughter, Macey Means; his great-grandson, Zayden and his best friend and companion, Mocha who brought him immense joy.
We will forever remember Tom for his kindness and the joyful way he moved through the world. In honor of the spirit, he shared so generously with us all, we say one last time, in his own words: “Too-too-too-too and Sweet!”
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be expressed on Facebook or at SerenityFuneralCare.com.
