Obituary For Tyler Douglas Waldron
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Tyler Douglas Waldron, age 33, of Independence, Kentucky.
Tyler was born in September of 1992 to Jeffrey and Jodi Waldron. He was raised in Waterville, Ohio, alongside his younger brother, Derek. The two shared a lifelong bond, spending their early years fishing together and later pursuing scuba diving adventures.
A graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School, Tyler proudly played lacrosse and soccer for the Titans. He was a lifelong learner with a brilliant mind and strong determination. Tyler continued his education at the University of Dayton, where he earned his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering. He remained a devoted Dayton Flyers fan. An avid sports enthusiast, Tyler especially cheered on the Dallas Cowboys, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds.
He moved from Dayton, OH to Cold Spring, KY to pursue his first engineering position. It was during this chapter of his life that he met his perfect match, Abbey. From the moment she brought him home to meet her family, Tyler became their hero — most memorably when he calmly rescued a mouse from the garage while Abbey, her mother, and her four sisters fled from the scene. It was a story often retold with laughter and affection.
Tyler was a devoted and loving husband and an extraordinary father to Andrew and Ava, as well as his fur babies, Ribby and Toby, who were the center of his world. He took great pride in providing for his family. Despite commuting an hour and a half each way to work at Bowman Consulting Group as a Project Manager, Tyler used that time intentionally — calling his brother, speaking with family, connecting with mentors, and preparing himself to walk through the door each evening as the very best version of himself for those he loved.
He was the steady backbone of his family, offering unwavering support in every way. The word “no” rarely existed in his vocabulary when it came to his bride. Tyler was also actively involved in his wife’s school community, assisting Abbey with family events at school. He showed up — wholeheartedly and consistently.
Tyler was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Waldron. He is survived by his loving wife, Abbey Waldron; his son, Andrew Waldron; his daughter, Ava Waldron; his mother, Jodi Waldron, grandparents, Vicky Waldron and Gary Waldron; his brother, Derek (Olivia) Waldron; his mother- and father-in-law, Andrew and Cathy Elkus; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Eric (Kayla) Elkus, Emily (David) Booher, Ashley (Nick) Milar, Amy Elkus, and Katie (Ryan) Bloomfield; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Chloe, Claire, and Levi Milar; Ella and Addison Booher; and William Elkus, along with many beloved aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends.
Services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, Kentucky 41051. Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tyler will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Tyler’s deep love for his children, contributions may be made to a scholarship fund established for Andrew and Ava by clicking here. It would mean the world to him to know that his children will continue to be cared for and supported in the years ahead.
