Obituary For Velma Jean Davenport

Velma Jean Davenport 84 of Union, Kentucky, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Velma was born on October 30, 1941. She was a true spitfire—full of life, strength, and a spirit that left an impression on everyone she met. She loved the Lord deeply, and her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. That faith showed in the way she loved others, especially her family.

Her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She was the best mom and grandma, always present, always cheering, and always loving with her whole heart. She found so much joy in traveling, attending her grandchildren’s games and activities, and celebrating every milestone, big or small.

Velma loved family gatherings and created countless memories filled with laughter and togetherness. She also treasured her friendships and was blessed with many dear friends throughout her life. Whether watching sports, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying the moment, she lived her life fully and with joy.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

In addition to her parents Velma was preceded in death by her daughter Tracy Cannon, her sister Judy Williams and brother Albert Fletcher.

She is survived by her loving children Ray Davenport, Tim Davenport, Vita Speagle (Mark) and Trina Barnes (Jamie). Her grandchildren Nicole, Ray Jr., Aaron, Sara, Elizabeth, Chelsea, Shayna, Ryan, Natalie, Shelby, Ashley, Brittany, Cassie, John, Eric, Hunter, Madison, Austin, and Lexi. She was loved by her 20 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In accordance with Velma's wishes there will be a private family service only.
