Obituary For Vernon Bowling

Vernon Bowling, 80, of Alexandria, passed away on June 12, 2023 at Seasons at Alexandria Nursing Home. Vernon was a proud Korean War veteran, serving as a member of the United States Army during the 1960s. After returning home from the war, Vernon married Paulette Bowling (nee. Cottingham), and the two were happily married for 58 years and raised 3 daughters together. He worked as a Truck Driver for more than 40 years for several different businesses, including a number of years with Frank Tea and Spice. When he wasn't at work he enjoyed attending church and read through the Bible several times a year. Vernon's other passion in life was undoubtedly his family. He cherished any time he got to spend with his daughters and was an incredibly proud grandfather and great-grandfather. At family gatherings Vernon was known as the World's Greatest Storyteller and had an amazing ability to recount memories and events from decades ago. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pops.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Florence Bowling, Father, Dave Bowling, Brothers, Robert and Carl Bowling, and Sister, Hetty Geary. Vernon is survived by his Wife of 58 years, Paulette Bowling, Daughters, Michele (Richard) Smith, Vickie (Paul) Masminster, Sherry (Gary) Hansman, Grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Kathryn (Kyle) Marsh, Elizabeth, Gracie, and Abigail Masminster, Paul Masminster III, Jacob and Jenna Hansman, Great-Grandchildren, Ellie and Ian Marsh and Norah Rinehart-Hansman, Brothers, Leslie Bowling, and Sisters, Nancy (Howard) Hardin and Midge (Thomas) Hensley.
