Obituary For Versie Pauline Fossitt

Versie Pauline Fossitt, 86, of Independence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Born to the late Melvin and Katie (Brummett) Harris, Versie lived a life centered on faith, family, and serving others. She retired after many years of dedicated service with Kenton County Schools, where she worked as a cafeteria employee at Twenhofel Middle School. Through her warm smile and caring nature, she touched the lives of countless students and staff.

Versie was the beloved wife of Bobby Fossitt, with whom she shared nearly 66 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving family and a home filled with kindness, laughter, and cherished traditions.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bobby Fossitt; her son, Adam (Lisa) Fossitt; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Matthew) Flanagan, Avery (Destiny) Fossitt, and Lilly (Braden Benjamin) Fossitt; and her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Sadie, Noah, Lucas, and Bennett, who brought her immeasurable joy.

A faithful attendee of Immanuel Baptist Church in Burlington, Versie enjoyed the simple blessings of life. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers, and in her younger years found great enjoyment in sewing. She was an exceptional cook, especially known for her delicious homemade pies that brought family and friends together around the table. She also had a wonderful gift for playing the piano. Above all, Versie treasured her family, and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wallace Harris, Saley Harris, Herschel Harris, Robert Harris and Richard Harris; and her sisters, Alice Bonta, Ova Rayburn, Anna Cooper, Audrey Harris, Elsie Harris, and Daisy Harris.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Independence Cemetery.

Versie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering love for her family, generous heart, and the lasting memories she created through the meals she prepared, the music she played, and the love she shared. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
