Obituary For Virgil Thompson Jr.

Virgil C “Curly”. Thompson, 94, of Erlanger, KY, passed away on December 11, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY surrounded by his family. Curly was an engineer for General Electric for 37 years, a Korean War Air Force Veteran, and a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Additionally, he was a Ludlow High School graduate, where he was class President, played football, was the lead in the play, and was in the band. Virgil enjoyed golfing, sailing on his sailboat “Ms. T”, working on model airplanes, and he loved genealogy.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Sr. and Ellen Thompson, his wife, Shirley Mae Thompson (nee Berling) of 67 years; his son-in-law, John Beck Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Jann Thompson.

Curly was a dedicated father to Michael Thompson, Kim Beck, David (JoEllen) Thompson, and Tonya (Doug) Stevie. He had 9 beautiful grandchildren, Michael K. Thompson, Joseph Thompson, Sebastian Beck, John Beck, Christian Beck, Joseph Beck, Savanna Stevie, Grace Stevie, and Sara Stevie; and his 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 10:30AM-11:30AM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. A catholic blessing will take place at 11:30AM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY.
