He then had a second career as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service; finishing his work life as a school bus driver for the Kenton County and Campbell County school systems.
Service work proved to be a bedrock in his life as he volunteered and led for the Taylor Mill Lions Club, the VFW, and the Elsmere (KY) Honor Guard until he was no longer physically able. He was also heavily involved in many of the annual Church festivals at St. Patrick Church in Taylor Mill, KY where he was a parishioner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Ruby (Daniel) Hawkins, Shirley (Frank) Simpson and Bonnie (Jerry) Hensley.
He is deeply remembered by his wife of 57 years, Beverly, and sons, Bill (Sandy), Scott (Susie), Jeff (Jen), as he was a devoted husband and father.
He loved and was loved by his grandchildren, Jessica, Dylan (Anna), Erica (Collin), Brittany (Anna), Matthew and Liam – along with his great-grandchildren, Remington, Kinsley and Oaklynn.
