Obituary For William McCarthy

William "Bill" McCarthy 75 of Wilder, passed away on June 27, 2023, at his family home in Fort Thomas, KY. Bill was born January 22, 1948, in Richmond, VA to William Oscar and Mary Ann (Stork) McCarthy. Bill was a retired physician who practiced two specialties in Woodbridge, VA. His first specialty was Family Practice, secondly Obesity Medicine. Bill was an early pioneer as a Pro-Life doctor in the area of Family Practice to embrace life in all stages, from conception to natural death. Bill was a brilliant, humble man of God who used his intelligence to further medicine, particularly in the area of Obesity to help classify obesity as a disease. He was successful in getting many patients off insulin and insulin pumps. Bill was a Co-Director of Medical Education and a Fellow of the Obesity Medical Association. Bill’s other passion was his faith. He was a former member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Woodbridge, VA and a member of Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree SEAS Council #8183. He was currently a member of St. Catherine of Siena, Ft. Thomas, KY. Bill was preceded in death by sons, William C. McCarthy, Jr., and Daniel Jason McCarthy. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn (Giglia) McCarthy, daughter, Amanda McCarthy (Steve) Raymond, daughter in laws, Rebecca and Elizabeth McCarthy, grandchildren, Camara and Lexana McCarthy, sister-in-law, Terri (Mark) Babey and brothers-in-law, Bob (Sue Botts) Giglia & Tony (Dee) Giglia III. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 10:00 am (eulogy at 9:45 am) at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Fort Thomas, KY. Burial will take place in St Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas, KY. Memorials are suggested to St.Elizabeth Hospice 483 South Loop Rd.
